Brian Smith, Consultant

Brian Smith is a consultant who carries out many of the services provided by The Acoustics
& Vibration Group, Inc. (TAVGI). He is gaining experience in evaluating the acoustic
requirements of a variety of building types and projects. He has experience in designing
facilities for optimum sound quality, measuring sound, analyzing data and completing noise
impact statements. He analyzes heating, ventilating, air-conditioning (HVAC) systems for
sound characteristics and vibration isolation, and executes vibration measurements for
commercial and public utility projects. Brian also designs commercial audio and video
systems for religious, corporate, educational, entertainment, retail, government and
residential applications.
While actively pursuing his degree in mechanical engineering, Brian gained experience
serving a six-month internship with a major acoustical consulting firm in San Francisco and
then a three-month internship with TAVGI. After graduation, Brian joined TAVGI full time in
January 2001. Since this time, Brian has worked on a variety of projects including
environmental studies, audiovisual system design and evaluation, building architectural and
mechanical acoustic design, and vibration and noise control.
